The source of our approach to consulting is the patient in his or her specific situation with regard to an illness (severity of illness, co-morbidities, and other) on the one hand, and the available external evidence with regard to relevant treatment questions on the other hand. In our understanding a high quality level of health care provision means to reconcile those two positions in order to find a balance for adequate patient care, to justify additional expenses in a litigable manner, and to identify inefficiencies (often resulting from unreflected routines). Since the development of an evidence-based approach to consulting heavily relies on ensuring access to the results of the most recent studies, it is a highly dynamic process that can only be achieved through broad and uncomplicated access to globally recognized database systems.
